Atlantis welcomes fiction written in a wide variety of genres and styles, with the following guidelines. Submissions must be less than or equal to 1000 words and formatted in double-spaced, 12 point Times New Roman. We cannot accept fanfiction due to copyright law, nor do we accept work written with the help of generative artificial intelligence. Submissions can be short stories, flash fiction, or a selection from a longer work as long as the selection can stand alone. We will look for evidence of the student's ability to craft a story, but also their ability to consider diction, syntax, and other stylistic elements.
Submissions are only open to all students attending college in North Carolina: graduate, undergrad, public, private, or community college. Applicants may enter up to ten submissions total, in all categories. Thank you for sharing your work with us! Please leave your name off the document so your submission(s) will be anonymous.
